A cooperative nursery school is a non-profit organization in which parents administer, establish policy, direct the school procedure and participate in the daily school routine.
VPNS employs highly qualified teachers and teacher's aides. Our teachers have earned their preschool teaching credentials as mandated by the State of California. Parents assist the teachers in the classroom, participate in all aspects of the school and help the daily school routine.

Mission & Philosophy
It is the mission of VPNS to provide the community with quality, play-based education for the child and parent while working in cooperation with teachers to stimulate and enrich the minds of our children.
The cooperative nursery school is organized to benefit both parent and child. In this nursery school setting that is preparing your child for kindergarten.
Children learn well with others, express themselves creatively, and cope with their emotions. Play is the work of children. Through our play-based environment children develop physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. This experience enables the child to discover themselves in relation to the outside world.
Observing children helps parents better understand their nature and needs. They become reassured as parents, while obtaining new parenting skills that contribute to home guidance and learning.
In 1950 a group of dedicated mothers formed the Vallejo Parent Nursery School. Through numerous fund raising efforts, the building we currently reside in was opened in 1966 and is the only cooperative preschool in Vallejo, and one of the finest facilities in Northern California - something all of Vallejo can be proud of.
